Diego

Pre‑clinical engineering prototype
Replaceable fingers
Each finger comes out in one piece.
Palm
The electronics, sealed in one place.
Control pod
Two sensors on the forearm. Flex to close, extend to open. You change grips from the hand.
Socket
Designed by ReMould from an iPhone scan. Your clinic prints it and fits it.

When a powered hand breaks, it usually goes back to the manufacturer. People told us they had waited a month without one.

We put Diego together so that the wearer or their clinic can do most repairs. A finger comes out in one piece and a new one goes in.

The fingers curl around what you are holding, so a mug and a pen need the same squeeze.

Six grips come built in: fist, hook, and two versions each of tripod and pinch. You can set up your own as well.

You change between them from the hand itself.

A socket made in ReMould, black, standing on a dark stage. Render.

The socket is made at the clinic, from a scan.

  1. Scan

The prosthetist scans your arm with an iPhone.
  2. Design

ReMould turns the scan into a socket file, and the prosthetist checks it on screen.
  3. Print

    The clinic prints it.

The same prosthetist does the fitting.

A powered hand usually costs between €15,000 and €70,000.

Status

Diego is not yet available to patients. We are working with clinical partners in Ireland and the United States toward clinical access and evaluation.

Is Diego available yet?

No. Diego is an engineering prototype. We are working with clinics in Ireland and the United States toward clinical evaluation, and this page will say when that changes.

Who fits it?

A prosthetist, at a clinic. The clinic scans your arm, prints the socket with ReMould and does the fitting. We do not fit hands ourselves.

What happens if it breaks?

Most repairs are a finger swap. You can do it at home, or your clinic can do it in an appointment. A replacement finger plan will cover spares.

Is it waterproof?

No. The prototype has not been tested to a water resistance standard, so keep it dry. We will publish a rating when we have tested one.

How do I hear when it is ready?

Write to us through the contact page and choose Personal. We will reply, and we will let you know when there is news.
